Call (+1) 202-331-1010, say you heard about the dinner via Bureaucrash Social. Maybe mention you've heard some major donors will be there (and Tucker Carlson!). Ask if it's too late to RSVP (it is, but that's not the point), and if the event is black tie (it's black-tie optional).
Be *very* polite to the folks who answer the phone, they are not your enemy. No need to go off on a rant about anything, you're just making a simple inquiry. Your call should last no more than 2 minutes (assuming there's not a long stretch of music-on-hold). Ask some of the questions above, get refused, thank the operator and hang up. Crash complete.
